Meeting 2: workshop
Deliverable: Eight-item Stroop pilot with correct
condition labels, scoring, and safe summaries. Work from
materials/workshop-starter/; attempt the core tasks before
consulting the released reference solution. Pair work is encouraged;
switch driver/navigator roles halfway.
W1. Stimulus and conditions (15 min)
Read ink_color dynamically rather than always showing black. Inspect congruent and incongruent items; confirm every target-color key.
W2. Randomize and score (20 min)
Use all eight items in random order. Complete correctness/omission logic. Verify four rows per condition and balanced ink colors.
W3. Summaries and audit (25 min)
Add the provided summary and explain every filter. Run an all-timeout pilot. Use the synthetic CSV to hand-check the calculation, then download your own pilot.
Acceptance checks
Workshop: eight Stroop rows, four per condition, each ink once in each condition. Synthetic key: 50% accuracy overall/by condition, two omissions, mean correct RT 800 ms overall, 600 congruent, 1000 incongruent. Assignment 2 deliberately expands to 16 balanced items.
Save the source and one clearly labeled self/synthetic pilot export. This in-class work is formative; graded homework has a separate brief and may require more items.
If you finish early
Add balanced items, distinguish sampling from repetition, or demonstrate a deterministic order for debugging. Do not introduce post-hoc RT exclusions.
Exit ticket
Explain the two timeline-variable methods and the accuracy/RT denominators.
